From My First Risk to a $2.4M Business Deal: The Truth About Playing Big
Plus a Bonus 3-Step Framework for Stepping Into Smart Risks
What’s the first real risk you remember taking?
The one that made your heart race.
The one that made you wonder, What if this doesn’t work out?
I remember mine.
Second Grade. First Crush. My First Big Risk.
I remember her face. I remember her name. Her hair. And how she dressed for school.
She was smart, talented, well-spoken, confident—and so cute.
I think she was a grade or two ahead of me, which made her seem even cooler.
I don’t know what came over me that day, but I just had to let her know.
It was recess. A hallway moment.
I felt this surge of energy in my chest and throat—a feeling I now recognize as desire.
And then, before I could stop myself…
💥 "I LOVE YOU!"
(Lol. Guess I was always into grandiose gestures.)
Spoiler alert: She didn’t feel the same way.
But that moment changed me.
Because even though I felt embarrassed, I also felt proud.
I had put myself out there. I had taken a real risk.
And something in me came alive because of it.
Why Risk is the Key to Growth
Every major evolution in our lives requires risk.
Not reckless, impulsive risk.
But conscious, bold, self-aligned risk.
Risk that forces us to level up.
Right now, I’m taking the biggest financial risk of my life.
I’m in the midst of a $2.4M business acquisition, and I’m:
🏡 Putting my house up as collateral—which means if the business fails, the bank could take it.
💰 Taking on a 10-year, $1.7M business capital loan—if this fails, my assets drop to zero.
That’s terrifying.
But you know what’s even scarier? Staying comfortable.
The Hidden Cost of Avoiding Risk
You might not think you’re risking much by staying comfortable.
But let’s break down the real risk behind staying comfortable.
🚧 Not starting the business? You’re risking years of potential wealth.
🚧 Not asking for what you want? You’re risking your dreams dying inside you.
🚧 Not investing in yourself? You’re risking becoming a version of yourself you don’t even recognize.
We love to calculate the cost of taking risks, but we rarely stop to calculate the cost of not taking them.
So in a moment, I'll share the 3-step process + give you a free download of my Smart Risk Accountability Sheet (only for subscribers).
Here’s the harsh truth:
💡 Success doesn’t come from avoiding risk. It comes from choosing the right risks.
Ask yourself:
“What if staying the same is the real risk?”
How to Know Which Risk is Right for You
So how do you find the right risk for you?
Here’s my 3-step process:
Step 1: Engage Your Desire
Ask yourself:
💭 “What am I grateful for?”
This puts you in a state of having, instead of lack.
From there, ask, “What do I want?”
Then ask, “What else?”
And then, “What else?”
Let your inhibitions go. Pause the part of you that’s judging and write everything down. Desire after desire.
And then ask, “Which one of these things would make me gasp, grin or giggle if it happened in the next year?
Then, focus on that ONE THING.
There’s always one thing that stands out.
That’s your compass. Follow it.
Step 2: Take One Small Action
Risk doesn’t always look like a cliff jump.
It doesn’t have to be bold or dramatic.
Sometimes it’s tiny. Subtle. Deeply personal.
✔ It might be finally telling yourself the truth about what you really want.
✔ It might be saying it out loud for the first time.
✔ It might be sending a text, making a call, or filling out an application.
This part matters more than most people realize:
A single, small action can change the entire trajectory of your month—your year—even your life.
⚡️ Momentum doesn’t come from waiting.
It comes from one honest move at a time.
BONUS: After you take that first step, tell someone you trust.
Let them witness your intention. Let them walk beside you. Make sure this is someone playing a big game like you. More on why this is important in Step 3.
When you bring your dream into relationship, it stops being a secret—and starts becoming real.
🚀 Step 3 is where it all comes together.
This is where you go from thinking about risk to actually taking bold action—without second-guessing yourself.
